Pongo aims to help job-seekers write professional resumes and covering letters. It does this by offering two key services: the first is a DIY resume tool, wherein you choose from set phrases, edit information, and create your resume. The second option is to pay a member of their team to produce your resume for you. PongoResume.com also offers a range of additional services to help you out if you need more support.
First, let’s look at the resume production options available. You can join for free using a Limited account. This allows you to explore the site and use the resume builder (including a range of sample phrases). You can also use custom templates or pre-written letters, as well as performing a job search. Apparently, free members can also get help from professional resume writers, but from what we can ascertain you will need to pay an additional fee for them to get directly involved in producing your resume.
Paying members essentially get more support from the team of professional resume writers, as well as being able to access more templates and samples. They can also track their progress and receive their document as a PDF, Word or Text document. The site provides a helpful breakdown of each feature on offer, depending on which package you go for. Each paid membership option comes with a 30 day money back guarantee, if you’re dissatisfied.
The site also offers some tips for interviews, which is useful to explore, particularly if you’re not entirely sure where you’ve been going wrong. Additionally, you can produce cover letters, follow up letters and thank you letters. We were particularly impressed to find out that the system matches the writing style between documents, so you don't sound too artificial.
If you’re not too confident in your ability to produce a decent resume or letter, you can pay the site’s team of specialists to do it on your behalf. This is a much more expensive option but still offers good value for money. If you take a look at Pongo’s Testimonials pages, you’ll see that they’ve helped out a lot of people who were ideal for their job but simply lacked the skills or confidence to produce a top notch resume.
The site’s been helping job-seekers for over a decade, having produced over six million resumes. They also state that 70% of their surveyed members said that they got the job after using Pongo, which is a very encouraging statistic. The website offers live support Monday through Friday, 9AM to 5PM (Eastern time), meaning that you can often get some help if you need it. You can find a few helpful videos around the site, telling you a little more about the services on offer and the dedication of the staff
Pongo’s twofold service, offering software to help you produce and phrase your resume and supporting documents, as well as contact with employment specialists, seems to be doing the trick. Their members have been very successful in getting the jobs they were applying for, and the site offers a great value 12 month membership package. Whilst their writing services are more expensive, they still offer an affordable option for helping you to nail the job of your dreams.
