Whilst Resume Maker Professional Ultimate does
contain a few more features than Resume Maker Professional, it is
debatable whether it is really worth the extra ten dollars, plus a
considerable increase in the payments for updates. However, it is
certainly a worthy piece of software, including everything you could
need to write an impressive resume and cover letter, or to prepare for
your interview and apply for jobs. The Contact Manager will ensure that
you keep your applications up-to-date and organized, as well as
providing a calendar to prevent you missing any important appointments,
so that you needn't worry about what you might have forgotten.
One advantage it has over its sister software
is that there is an opportunity to sample the free trial; whilst this
only lasts for thirty minutes, it gives a satisfactory overview of what
the software contains and is a must for anyone considering a purchase.
Be warned though that it can take some time to download, especially on
slow connections.
Throughout ResumeMaker, one of our favorite
features has been the Interview preparation section, where you can try
out virtual interviews, containing over 500 possible questions. It
allows you to practice your answers to them, and gives you an ideal
response, with the rationale behind it explained. This will allow you
to
walk into your interview with answers already prepared and feeling far
more confident, something that is truly invaluable!
Another aspect of Resume Maker
that particularly distinguishes it is the expert advice if offers,
including video tutorials, insider tips and step-by-step guides to each
part of your resume-building. This is generally written by experienced
professionals, and so you can be sure that it will be sound and
helpful. This even includes a reviewer to check your resume over for
mistakes before you send it off, and a section on negotiation
techniques to help you get the salary you deserve.
One of the extra features that is offered by Resume Maker Professional
Ultimate is the career planner, which asks you a series of pertinent
questions in order to ascertain what career would be best for you. It
then lists in order the positions that most closely match your answers,
and explains what each entails. This is a useful feature for anyone who
wants to try something new, or doesn't know where to start, but it
shouldn't necessary be viewed as completely and undeniably accurate!
Resume Maker Professional Ultimate is rather more expensive than its
extra features warrant, but still offers peace of mind for anyone who
simply doesn't know where to start when applying for a job, or for
someone who needs a way of organizing all their contacts, resumes,
cover letters and appointments with ease. It gives excellent interview
preparation advice and even helps you find out what your ideal career
might be, as well as providing expert career advice and the opportunity
to create plans that span several years in the future.
