Editor's Verdict:

Free Resume Example ironically does not live up to it's name, costing a princely $19.95 (down from $29.95) to access its library of resume and cover letter templates and samples. Whilst it does include an impressively large selection, covering a range of professions and vocations, with little else to this product there is little to recommend it to the consumer. It is cheaper than several of its competitors, but has severely limited features.

The website is probably more worth a visit as it boasts a large number of articles covering topics relevant to resume-writing (under 'free resume advice') which are quite informative. There are also a number of sample resumes and cover letters that can be viewed for free, which should be enough to get you started. Indeed, it is questionable as to whether over the 350 examples acquired when you subscribe are really necessary. The argument appears to be that you can simply chose the sections you like and copy and paste them to form a patchwork resume for yourself. As you would obviously need to tailor the details to suit your situation, we are doubtful as to whether there is any benefit to this method at all. The website also offers 'Resume help' which is a motley collection of articles apparently covering several issues repetitiously; we didn't feel particularly enlightened by these!

You may well have ascertained by now that we would not really recommend this software, and you would be correct in such an hypothesis! If you really wish to purchase access to a large number of sample resumes and cover letters, though written by experienced professionals, with the prospect of trawling through to find those relevant to your profession, then we suppose $19.95 won't leave you bankrupt, but there are certainly better products on the market with far more value for money.
